Live at the 5: Johanna Warren & Sara Gallagher

Join us for an evening of live music on Sunday, October 19th. Seated and standing room available.

We are very excited to welcome the multitalented musician, Johanna Warren, on her first tour in the US in years!

"A minutely examined and revelatory emotional upheaval, a view of a failed romance sung with meditative grace" - The New York Times

A “Singer-Songwriter You Need to Know" - Rolling Stone Magazine

Singer/songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Johanna Warren’s work delves into the human experience with both a forensic curiosity and a mystical wink. Johanna lives in rural Wales, where she spends much of her time foraging for medicinal and edible plants. She also makes short films, drawings, durational performance art pieces, and poetry zines. Her latest EP, “The Night of the Wind,” is a concept album based on a book she wrote and illustrated at age three: it is an ode to the inner child, the importance of creativity as play, and the wisdom we are born with but often lose along the way.

Opening the night will be Studio 5 cofounder, Sara Gallagher.

Bay Area songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist Sara Gallagher writes folk songs with a tender sensibility, producing a sound that is both comforting and captivating. With influences such as Karen Dalton, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Gillian Welch, her banjo style honors a variety of genres, eras, and traditions. She has toured around the world, most commonly with her husband and collaborator, the critically acclaimed musician Jacob Aranda.
